In this week’s episode, Pastor Ben Smith shares a message from the archives. The sermon, “It Is Good to Be Near God,” from Psalm 73, explores the true meaning of the “good life.”

Many define the good life through comfort, wealth, or ease—but Scripture offers a radically different vision. The psalmist wrestles with the seeming prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous until his perspective changes in the presence of God. Through this passage, we discover that real faith produces peace, real hope comes from God’s presence, and real refuge is found only in Him.

Pastor Ben concludes with the moving story of John Harper, the preacher aboard the Titanic, whose final words pointed others to salvation even as he faced death—reminding us that there is no better place to be than near to God.

Listen and be encouraged to draw near to the Lord, finding in Him the only life that is truly good.
