Fearless (Psalm 7)
Psalm 7 opens with David under the weight of a false accusation connected with Cush the Benjaminite. His name is being attacked, and the danger is real. Yet instead of making human opinion his final court of appeal, David runs to the Lord for refuge and asks the righteous Judge to expose what is true.
In this sermon, Ben Smith shows that Psalm 7 teaches believers to be concerned only with true judgment and to rest in God’s righteousness. David does not claim to be sinless; he declares his innocence of the charge brought against him. Because God searches every heart and mind, David can entrust his reputation, his accuser, and the final verdict to the Lord.
That same confidence frees Christians from fear when they are slandered, misunderstood, or pressured to compromise. We must examine ourselves honestly, repent of real sin, seek God’s approval above the praise of people, and trust his perfect justice. There is no lasting peace in the judgment of the world, but there is eternal peace in the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
Until Christ returns, the world may seek to accuse and discredit God’s people, but wickedness will not have the final victory. God will establish righteousness. Therefore, we need not be distracted or dismayed; we can give thanks to the Lord and praise his name.

In Genesis 11:10–32, the biblical record moves from the rebellion of Babel to the genealogy of Shem leading to Abram. At first glance, this passage may seem like little more than a list of names, but within this genealogy is a glorious testimony to the faithfulness of God. Even when nations rise and fall, truth is polluted, and the faithful drift away, God is still preserving His word and accomplishing His redemptive plan.
This sermon examines how God’s faithfulness is displayed throughout history, despite man’s corruption, and forever according to His word. Christians who understand God’s holiness and recognize their own sin often wrestle with a painful question: How can I know that Christ is truly my advocate and that my sins are forgiven? The gospel neither minimizes sin nor grounds assurance in personal effort. It directs believers to Jesus Christ the righteous, whose atoning sacrifice satisfies God’s wrath and secures forgiveness for His people.
