Hope-Filled Patience (Ruth 3)

Ruth and Naomi have food, but their future remains uncertain. Naomi sends Ruth to Boaz to ask him to act as their kinsman redeemer. Boaz responds kindly and promises to pursue the matter becasue another relative has the first opportunity to redeem. At the end of Ruth 3, the two women must still wait.

This chapter calls us to prepare our hearts, submit to the Lord, and wait with hope. Ruth approaches Boaz humbly and entrusts her future to God. She returns to Naomi with barley and a promise, though nothing about her circumstances has yet been settled.

Waiting on the Lord is difficult when you cannot see how or when He will work. Ruth’s story teaches us to trust God's faithfulness while we wait. Our surest hope rests in Jesus Christ, who has accomplished the redemption we could never accomplish for ourselves and will keep every promise He has made.
