God Provides (Ruth 2:1–16)
Ruth and Naomi return to Bethlehem with little to sustain them. Ruth goes to glean in the fields, hoping to gather enough food for them both. She comes to the field of Boaz, where a day that begins in uncertainty becomes an occasion for remarkable kindness.
In Ruth 2:1–16, we see that God provides enough for the need before Ruth, honors her faithful obedience, and has already prepared more than she can see. His provision comes through the gleaning laws, Ruth’s work, and Boaz’s generosity. What appears to be chance is part of God’s gracious care.
When our resources are insufficient, we can depend on the Lord and obey what He has already made clear. His care does not promise worldly prosperity, but Ruth’s story calls us to recognize His provision with gratitude and trust Him with needs we cannot meet ourselves. God’s purposes extend beyond this day in the field, ultimately reaching to Jesus Christ.
